Setting Up the Receiver Environment

The receiver (destination) environment must be configured to accept incoming MDM packages from the sending (master) company. This article covers the setup steps on the receiver side.

Step 1. Open MDM Receiver Setup

In the destination environment, select the search icon Search in the top right corner and enter MDM Receiver Setup in the search field.

The MDM Receiver Setup page will open with step-by-step instructions.

Step 2. Copy the Web Service URL

The Web Service Address field displays the OData URL of this environment's MDM receiving API. Copy this value and provide it to the administrator of the sending (master) company — they will paste it into the MDM Web Service Url field on the Destination Company card.

Tip: Click on the Web Service Address field to display the full URL in a message window for easier copying.

Step 3. Set up permissions

The sending company needs to authenticate with this environment. Choose one of the following methods:

The sending company uses an Entra app registration to authenticate. You need to register the sender's Client ID in this environment:

  1. Ask the sender administrator for the Client ID they configured in the Sender Credential card
  2. Click Entra Applications on the Receiver Setup page (the system page is labeled "Azure AD Applications")
  3. Add a new entry with the sender's Client ID
  4. Assign it the SMART MDM Full permission set

Option B: Basic authentication

If the sender uses Basic authentication instead of OAuth:

  1. Click Users on the Receiver Setup page
  2. Create a new user account for the sender
  3. Assign it the SMART MDM Full permission set
  4. Share the username and password with the sender administrator — they will enter these in the Sender Credential card on their side

Step 4. Verify the connection

After completing the steps above, ask the sender administrator to run Check Connection from the Destination Company card on the sender side. A successful connection check confirms that both sides are configured correctly.

Step 5. Monitor incoming packages (optional)

The Monitor section on the Receiver Setup page shows incoming package statistics:

  • Received packages — total number of packages received
  • Received packages this week — packages received in the last 7 days
  • Received packages today — packages received today

Click any of these fields to open the MDM Incoming Packages page for detailed review.

Configuring incoming transformations (optional)

If field values need to be transformed during import (e.g., mapping source values to different destination values), click Incoming Data Set Fields to configure transformation rules. These rules are applied when processing incoming packages.
