Setup

The SMART FX Rates application enhances the standard Business Central capabilities by automating and simplifying the process of entering and maintaining currency exchange rates. It enables seamless integration with external data providers and supports importing exchange rates directly into Business Central from sources that offer open API services. This ensures accurate, timely, and consistent currency data across the system with minimal manual effort.

  1. Initial Setup
  • Select Search (Alt+Q) in the upper-right corner, enter Exchange Rate Services, and then select the related link. This link will lead you to the page - SMA Exchange Rate Services. This page is different from standard BC page - Curr. Exch. Rate Service List (1650, List).
  • Select the New action.
  • On the Exchange Rate Service page, fill in the following fields:
Field nameDescription
CodeSpecifies the exchange rate service code. Should be entered manually.
DescriptionSpecifies the exchange rate service description. Should be entered manually.
Default Exchange Rate AmountSpecifies the default exchange rate amount used for conversions. If no other figure is approriate then enter one.
Default Adjustment Exch. Rate AmountSpecifies the default adjustment exch. rate amount used for conversions. If no other figure is approriate then enter one.
Fix Exchange Rate AmountSpecifies the fixed exchange rate amount type to be used during import. Three options are available: Currency, Relational currency and both. For import of ordinary currency rates from selected source select option - Currency.
Exchange Rate ServiceSpecifies the exchange rate service for which the settings are performed. Should be selected from given list.
PrioritySpecifies the execution order for the exchange rate import. Lower values run first. Should be entered manually.
  1. Currency card setup In all currency cards appropriate Exchange Rate Source should be selected from the list of available exchange rate sources.
