Manufacturing Charge Assignment
Manufacturing Charge refers to the manufacturing expenditure that can’t be associated with a specific type (unit) of a product (service). All manufacturing costs are subject to assignment to expenditure objects using the assignment base.
To assign manufacturing charge in Business Central, Item Revaluation Journal is used.
Filling out Journal Lines
To fill in journal lines, do the following:
- Click to open Search, enter Item Revaluation Journal, follow the link.
- To fill in the journal lines, click Actions > Functions > Add Journal Lines.
- In Add Journal Lines window, fill in the following fields:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Document No. | Indicate the number to be used as a document number in journal lines. If a number series is set in the journal section, this field will be filled in with a corresponding number from the set number series. |
Gen. Business Posting Group | Indicate the general business group by which item entries will be selected to fill in the journal lines. This field is mandatory. |
Item Type | Indicate the item type to be used to fill in journal lines. |
Inventory Posting Group | Indicate the item posting group by which item entries will be selected to fill in journal lines. |
Posting Date | Indicate the date as of which Item Ledger Entries will be selected in line with the above options. |
- Journal lines will be filled out in line with the options set.
Manufacturing Charge Assignment
To assign manufacturing charge, do the following in the created journal lines:
- To assign manufacturing charge, click Actions > Functions > Manufacturing Charge Assignment.
- In the Manufacturing Charge Assignment window, fill in the following fields:
Field | Description |

Closing Account | This field will be filled in automatically with a G/L Account indicated in the Inventory Adjmt. Account field on the General Posting Setup page at the intersection of the General Business Posting Group and the General Product Posting Group. |
Close At Date | Indicate the date as of which the account indicated in the Closing Account field will be closed. |
Amount for Assignment | This field will be filled in automatically with the amount of the end balance on the G/L account indicated in the Closing Account field as of the date indicated in the Close At Date field. |
Assignment Base | Indicate the base used for assigning the manufacturing charge amount. |
Dimensions | Indicate the dimension set for assignment entries. |
Note
For Overhead Charges and Capacity Direct Cost assignment bases, corresponding fields must be filled out in the journal lines.
- Closure amount will be assigned to journal lines in line with the selected assignment base.
- To post journal lines, click Post/print > Post.
